Our pūrākau

Our Pūrākau are precious taonga in our kura and a valued part of teaching and learning. Pūrākau are shared with our akonga to support learning throughout the curriculum and also support our uara values. Below are pūrākau that hold the greatest significance for our local iwi.

Our ANZAC Celebrations

Our Grovetown community have a strong connection to the Grovetown ANZAC memorial that stands in our school grounds. 13 Grovetown soldiers were killed in battle during World War 1 and World War 2. We commemorate ANZAC day with our local community by holding our own ANZAC ceremony at our memorial.

Our Matariki Celebrations

Our community come together to celebrate Matariki at our kura with the sharing of waiata, kai, purakau, and wishes for the coming year.
